Privacy Policy
The short version: StatsUp stores all your data locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. We do not run servers. We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs. The only external service StatsUp contacts is Strava (to import your activities) and Google Maps (to display routes).
1. Who we are
StatsUp is an Android application developed and maintained by Marco Fracassi (fracassi.marco@gmail.com). The app is open source and available on GitHub.
2. Data we access
StatsUp requests read-only access to your Strava account in order to import your training activities. Specifically, the app reads:
- Activity data: distance, duration, elevation, pace, speed, heart rate, type, date
- Route/GPS coordinates associated with activities
- Your Strava profile name and profile picture (displayed locally in the app)
StatsUp never requests write access to Strava. It cannot create, modify, or delete any data on your Strava account.
3. Where your data is stored
All data imported from Strava is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device (using the Room library). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it using the built-in backup feature.
StatsUp has no backend servers. There is no account system, no cloud sync, and no remote database.
4. Data sharing
We do not share your data with any third party, with the following technical exceptions:
- Strava API — when you connect your account or trigger a sync, the app communicates with Strava's servers to retrieve your activity data. This is governed by Strava's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps — when you view a route map, GPS coordinates are sent to Google Maps to render the map tiles. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics and advertising
StatsUp contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting services, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. We have no visibility into how you use the app.
6. Permissions
StatsUp requests the following Android permissions:
- INTERNET — required to communicate with Strava's API and Google Maps.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE — used only if you choose to export or import a backup file.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your data exists solely on your device. You can delete all data at any time by using the "Re-sync from Strava" option (which replaces all local data) or by uninstalling the app, which removes the local database entirely.
To revoke StatsUp's access to your Strava account, visit Strava → Settings → My Apps and disconnect StatsUp.
8. Children's privacy
StatsUp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this app and you have concerns, please contact us.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the changes in the app's release notes.
